The Medical Research Institute (MRI) and the Immunity and Metabolism Frontier Science Center are the scientific research and innovation base of Wuhan University for high-level talents. MRI is dedicated to basic and translational biomedical research. MRI encourages collaboration and emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach in an effort to boost biomedical research at Wuhan University and eventually to establish a high-profile biomedical research center with national and international influence.
MRI is established to be a technology platform for the whole school. There is an exclusive SPF-level laboratory animal room, an experimental animal instrument platform, a large instrument and equipment sharing platform, a molecular imaging platform, an isotope tracer analysis platform, a protein analysis platform, an omics technology and bioinformatics platform here. A series of related equipment for research such as electroporation instrument, nucleic acid imager, nucleic acid quantifier, real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR instrument, nucleic acid quality detector, second-generation sequencer, high-throughput flow analyzer, flow sorter, small animal irradiator, laser confocal microscopes, hypoxic workstations, protein purifiers, high-throughput tissue grinders, dryers, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization stainers, brightfield-fluorescence-FISH multifunctional scanners for nucleic acid detection.MRI can meet the needs of various experiments.
